About Shira

I used to get triggered and hijacked by my emotions quite often. I would lash outwards, get defensive and blame others for the situations I was in. I knew my relationships were suffering because of it, but I just never knew how to get unstuck.

I decided to start blogging about my everyday stumbles and big, complex issues. I considered that the answer to my struggles wasn’t going to come from changing other people, but rather from changing me. I began to study and explore the works of people like Viktor Frankl, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Byron Katie, Eckhart Tolle, and Pema Chodron.

And then it finally came to me.

My name is Shira Taylor Gura and I know how to get unSTUCK. I created The S.T.U.C.K Method™ – a simple and easy-to-remember self-help technique that you can practice – anytime and anywhere ,  so you can stop being hijacked by your emotions and take better care of yourself and your relationships.

As a well-being coach, podcast host*, and author of an Amazon #1 new bestseller, Getting unSTUCK – Five Simple Steps to Emotional Well-BeingI help people notice how their stuck places are blocking them them from making their lives and relationships as rich and rewarding as they can be – and guide them using The S.T.U.C.K. Method to get unSTUCK.

I give people the tools to get unSTUCK. Through my stories, tools, worksheets, and conversations, people laugh, empathize, and learn how to turn their “stuck” spots into sources for energy and positive change.

Using this method daily is the reason I am living my best life today!

Doing this work with clients reminds me of how much I suffered and how desperate I was to find an answer! I feel privileged to work with people who are seeking and who are committed to getting unSTUCK and I love witnessing the powerful results that come from their dedicated work.

“Shira relies on examples taken exclusively from her own life experiences, challenges, and personal growth. This makes for an honest, authentic, and absorbing text, in which nothing is taught that was not experienced first by the author herself.” Dr. Nurit Novis Deutsch, psychologist, The Department of Counseling and Human Development, University of Haifa.
Avoiding obscure terminology, Shira Taylor Gura uses humour and everyday situations to explain how we can all avoid not only rushing to protect our egos, but also battling needlessly with reality.” Dr. Graham Stew, principal lecturer at the School of Health Sciences, University of Brighton, UK

“Going through the Getting UNSTUCK process cut lots of big-seeming thoughts and beliefs down to size.  Our minds can inflate the importance of things that don’t really matter so much.  Challenging them with this method forces us take a more accurate measure of how our thoughts and feelings really work.  Having gone through the process with my own “stuck” situation makes me think of walking through the woods where there is no path.  The first time is hard.  Do this for a week and the way becomes clear.” – John Eichenberger, LMHC, CASAC, Geneva, New York

“Shira’s willingness to be vulnerable and her ability to articulate her experience is off the charts. It is a gift I truly cherish. I would describe her as a rare jewel:  Precious.  Valuable.  Priceless.” –Allison, Haddonfield, NJ
“Shira made me realize what is in my control and how I have the power to improve situations.” – Sheila, Pitman, NJ
“Shira is very vulnerable and that is one of the things that most endears her to me. She has taught me to be vulnerable as well.” –Steven, San Francisco, CA
